The Lively Oak Event Center is located atop a beautiful hillside on 25 acres of farmland in Fred, Texas. The hayfields, towering pines, hickory trees and a variety of oaks, including our featured 90 feet canopy live oak tree, make the perfect setting for an elegant ceremony or event of any kind. You will love this quiet, peaceful setting to gather with family and friends to celebrate and make memories!

Owner, Sue Moore (Susie), grew up here, enjoying the farm life as her family baled hay and raised a variety of farm animals. After living away for over 25 years with her husband and children in places from South Carolina to Alaska, Susie and her husband, Doonie, returned “temporarily” to Fred to care for her parents. In hopes to facilitate retirement and a place for outdoor education and ministry, Susie and Doonie decided to stay in Fred and build their dream on her part of the old family farm land.

As life often brings plans unaware and redirects our path, Susie with God’s direction and help from a host of wonderful friends and family members, completed their dream in June of 2021. Her desire is to honor both her parents and her husband’s legacies as she moves forward with running Doosie Farm and The Lively Oak Event Center with continued help and support of her children, family and friends.

Our featured live oak tree has a canopy of over 90 feet! Guests and grandkids alike find this to be a magical setting for any special moment.

Susie purposely designed the main facility for weddings which includes a groom’s game room and beautiful bridal/honeymoon suite! The facility is also equipped with a large kitchen, parlor and spacious porches, balconies and deck which make it a wonderful place to gather and host a variety of occasions!

Our log cabin for overnight guests is now finished and is located on the north side of the main facility! Guests are able to enjoy a quiet farm stay in our rustic log cabin with handicap accommodations.
